Tressia Wright, PLPC
Therapist
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in the psychology of leadership from Urshan College and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors as well as the American Counseling Association. I volunteer at my local church ministering to children and young adults from kindergarten through college. My approach to counseling includes clinical theory and intervention but gains its focus from the understanding of Jesus’ words in John 16:33, “…in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Different therapeutic approaches used in session include Person Centered paired with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt therapy, and Psychodynamic. Sessions with me include learning and applying coping skills that can be practiced in daily life and empathically exploring the meaning and effects of thoughts, behaviors, and emotions on the presenting issue. I counsel adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples. I also work with presenting issues including anxiety, depression, grief, relationship building, conflict resolution, behavioral issues, emotional regulation, divorce care, women’s issues, and issues concerning faith and spirituality.
